GCA slaps Rs 1 lakh fine on 3 players for participating in GPL

Panaji: The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on three state Ranji players for playing in the Goa Premier League, which is not recognised by the BCCI.
"The GCA has taken serious view of the contracted players from Group A (Ranji category) -- Saurabh Bandekar, Amit Yadav (both representing Mechvac Fabricators in the GPL) and Aniket Desai (Sarvodaya Royals) -- for breach of GPL undertaking and participating in unrecognised tournament, GCA secretary Prasad Phaterpeker said in a release.
As such Saurabh, Amit and Aniket have been penalised for Rs one lakh as fine which is receivable to them from their franchises, the release said.
