Oram was reported by Umpires Wayne Knights and Evan Gray for breaching the Code of Conduct after he was heard using inappropriate language and openly disagreeing with an umpiring decision after being given out LBW during a domestic one-day match against Otago in Palmerston North.
Association Commissioner Mike Ryan convened a hearing and found the example was a clear breach of the code of conduct.
During the hearing, Oram advised that he admitted the breach and said that it was not the example that he ordinarily set.
In the commissioners report Ryan said that while the behaviour was unacceptable he acknowledged Oram's action was out of character. Ryan decided that it was a Level 2 offence and a fine of $400.00 was the appropriate penalty.
